Low Rent Renaissance

This is a two sided effort that stands about 8 ft. tall, made from a treated 4x4 post covered with hardware cloth and chicken wire. I've been using a mortar recipe that includes sand, clay dust, portland cement, builder's lime, joint compound, and asphalt emulsion. I used exterior wood stain to color it. 

  I made another piece with the idea of "blues cats." I wanted them more expressive. The standing figure is about 11 inches tall, and both are made with Super Sculpey over copper and aluminum wire. The gutiar is luan and balsa wood, tooth picks, and thread. Mounted on a pine base.

This piece is about 19 inches tall. The figure is about 11 inches tall. Made from Super Sculpey over copper and aluminum wire, Sculpey air dry clay, balsa wood, luan, pine, glass pane, and other bits and pieces, painted primarily with Apple Barrel and Folk Art acrylics. The base is stain over white primer.

Burlapcrete planter, colored with exterior wood stain.   A work in progress. A two sided ferrocement totem pole. I've been experimenting with exterior wood stains on these pieces and have so far been happy with the result. 

At last they have time for a day at the beach! Super Sculpey, acrylic paint, sand, Elmer's Glue, and, as usual, bits and pieces.  She stands about 10".
